Dr. Michaela Schwarzbach, Dipl. Psych.

Dr. Michaela Schwarzbach studied psychology at the University of Leipzig (Diploma Psych., 2006) and promoted to Dr. rer. Med. at the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig (topic “Depression in old age – measurement and social relations”, 2016). Continuing training in analytical psychotherapy at the Saxonian Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy – Therese Benedek (SPP). From 2008 to 2016, she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Social Medicine, Occupational Medicine and Public Health (ISAP) at the University of Leipzig, and successfully participated in a number of research projects, especially in multicentric project coordination. Since December 2016 she has been working as a project manager at the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economics (IMW) in Leipzig in the qualification and competence management group. Dr. Schwarzbach has many years of experience in the development, implementation and management of quantitatively and qualitatively oriented research projects, was regularly evaluated and published in international peer-reviewed journals for her lectures and seminars. Her main research interests at the ISÖ include social epidemiology, age research, the analysis of social networks, therapies research and research methods. Since August 2016, she has been a member of the board of directors of the boards of trustees “Sozialökologische Gesellschaft e.V.”.

The goal of the most recent study “Psychiatric Disorder in Social Security Law II: Situation and Supervision” (funded by the Institute for Labor Market and Professional Research of the Federal Agency for Labor) was to provide a detailed analysis of the situation of persons with a mental illness in SGB II in the qualitative study design create. Within the scope of the study, problem-centered interviews were conducted with mentally ill persons with benefits in Social Security Code II, with specialists and executives from the job centers, as well as caregivers and experts from the field of ambulatory psychiatric care in eight Jobcenter regions. Based on this, recommendations were made regarding the cooperation, the improvement of the administration as well as proposals for legal changes.
